Dear Dance Enthusiasts:

The Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association (CDTA), BC Branch will be hosting a membership drive for its Modern Division. The CDTA, BC Branch will be accepting membership applications from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 inclusive..

The CDTA BC Branch is a registered society offering a wide range of accreditation for professional dance teachers. The qualified teachers become members of the CDTA. Those teachers may use the wide range of student examinations offered in many disciplines. The BC Branch has been offering these services to dance teachers and their students for over 60 years and in all parts of British Columbia. It is a progressive organization continually reviewing and refining the syllabi and services offered.
 
The CDTA, BC Branch is interested in raising awareness of its Modern Division and its unique syllabus; therefore it has been decided that the BC Branch will offer a membership drive in the hope that it will generate interest in this popular dance genre. The CDTA, BC Branch is the only Branch of CDTA thus far to be able to offer its members and their students a Modern Student Examination Syllabus, which is based on the principles of the Graham, Cunningham, Limon and Horton techniques.

During the membership drive the BC Branch will be accepting applications from local dance teachers throughout BC who are interested in attaining their Associate Membership in the Modern Division of the CDTA, BC Branch. By joining during our membership drive:
*You will be exempt from taking the Associate Membership examination (please see accreditation requirements listed below). However, you will be required to pay $125.00 in lieu of taking the examination.
*You will be entitled to a prorated membership fee for 2010.

Membership within the Modern Division of the CDTA, BC Branch has many unique benefits, including:
*Discounted rates to all CDTA Workshops
*Access to syllabus for other Divisions of the CDTA, BC Branch *A network of like-minded, artistic individuals to foster professional working relationships *A supportive organization that hosts many dance-related events

Interested teachers will need to have the following credentials in order to qualify for the Associate Membership in the Modern Division of the CDTA, BC Branch during the membership drive.
*You will have a four-year university degree majoring in contemporary dance
*You will possess teaching accreditation from another recognized dance organization, which was attained via a professional examination.
*You will currently be teaching modern/contemporary dance at a local dance institution *You will demonstrate an interest in entering students for modern dance examinations *You may possess significant professional dance/choreographic experience within BC and Canada

If you are interested in applying for Associate Membership with the Modern Division of the CDTA, BC Branch, complete the CDTA Application for Membership form and submit it with a résumé and any other supporting documentation you deem necessary. Your application will be reviewed by the BC Branch Executive Board. Applicants will learn the outcome of the review via letter from the Modern Division Chairperson.
